Oxygen Deficiency
Detection

IAQ Detectors, the instrumentation brand of Ace Instruments, manufactures a CE certified oxygen deficiency detector for confined spaces, inert-gas fire suppression rooms, cold storage, and laboratory gas-purge areas. The instrument continuously measures ambient oxygen concentration via an electrochemical cell and outputs via Modbus RS-485 and relay for alarm integration.

Normal atmospheric oxygen concentration is 20.9%. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 defines oxygen deficiency as any concentration below 19.5%, the threshold at which continuous monitoring becomes a confined-space entry requirement.

Common applications

Where continuous oxygen monitoring is required

🚪

Confined spaces

Tank entry, vaults, and enclosed process areas require continuous oxygen monitoring under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 permit-required confined-space rules.

💨

Inert-gas fire suppression rooms

Server rooms and archives protected by inert-gas suppression systems monitor oxygen levels to warn occupants of gas discharge.

🧪

Laboratories

Nitrogen-purged and cryogenic storage laboratories monitor ambient oxygen as a standard safety measure.

🧊

Cold storage

Controlled-atmosphere cold storage rooms with modified gas composition monitor oxygen for worker entry safety.

🏥

Hospitals & labs

Medical gas stores and cryogenic storage rooms are monitored for oxygen deficiency per NABH facility safety guidance.
